We are a Gold Awarded TIASS School
We are so proud to share that we were awarded the Gold Award for TIAAS (Trauma Informed and Attachment Aware Schools) this week. This is a huge recognition in Birmingham as we have been developing our Nurture School as part of our Ordinary Available Offer for inclusion. Thank you to our staff, children and families for joining us on our exciting journey!
What the TIAAS Gold Award means
- Commitment to trauma-informed practice: The award confirms the school is deeply committed to embedding trauma-informed and attachment-aware practices across every aspect of its operation.
- Understanding trauma's impact: Staff recognize the signs of trauma and understand its effects on a child's development, learning, and behavior.
- Relational approach: The school prioritizes connection, relationships, and a sense of belonging, with staff using restorative practices, co-regulation, and Emotion Coaching.
- Behaviour as communication: Staff respond to all behavior as a form of communication, taking into account the needs of the child.
- Focus on safety and belonging: The school works to create a safe environment where children feel a sense of connection and security.
- Emotional regulation support: The curriculum is designed to help students understand and regulate their emotions
